LA: Best Spots For People-Watching

Oct 15, 2012

It’s been a long time since DITA eyewear’s Jeff and John sold their first pair of frames along Los Angeles’ iconic Melrose Avenue, but the world-famous designers haven't forgotten their roots. Here, they share some of the must-see places to see and be seen in the City of Angels.

Melrose Avenue
Melrose has always been a breeding ground for interesting style watching as you get a good mix of hipsters, actors, skaters, rich kids, tourists, young professionals and influencers alike.

Rose Bowl Flea Market
The Rose Bowl is held on the second Sunday of each month. It’s where you tend to see a more advanced set of influencers in one massive lot. If you're searching for furniture, clothes, accessories, books, records or inspiration - they have something for everybody, just get there early and have a mental checklist of what you want. Go with friends or even alone, you’ll have a great time either way.

Venice Beach Skate Park
Venice Beach, Los Angeles.
Venice Beach has such rich history and we both grew up hanging out there so it feels like home. Watch the local crowds just hanging out to get a picture of some real LA culture.

Staples Center
1111 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles.
+1 213 742 7326
A Laker’s game is always a guaranteed good time. Our friends from out of town always get a kick out of the celebrity sightings (actor Jack Nicholson is a regular).

Malibu Beach
The great thing about living in LA is that you have the city, suburbs, desert and beach all at your disposal. Think of Malibu as a retreat. It’s super relaxing with great views, shops and places to eat and it’s just a relatively short drive away.

Plus: Places to be seen in LA

The Original Farmer's Market
6333 West 3rd Street, Los Angeles
It’s a haven of great Mexican food and it draws in a cool, eclectic crowd where old folks and young kids can all hang, eat, and kill time.

Chateau Marmont
8221 Sunset Boulevard,
Hollywood, Los Angeles
The Chateau has managed to maintain its cool, old Hollywood vibe despite its popularity. This is ultimate hideaway and place to catch up with friends.

Runyon Canyon
It’s actually a great workout but you do run into beautiful people from all walks of life and a fair share of celebrity sightings (but they're just normal people like us after all).

Coachella Music Festival
81-800 Avenue 51, Indio
It’s a music festival that we look forward to every year. We love seeing new bands perform and the people that attend really champion this sort of effortless "festival style" that's very unique to LA.
