The ideal end to a flight looks something like this: Land. Grab bag. Get home quick.
Now that there are designated Uber pick up spots at 15 Australian airports you can do just that.
And, as well as getting home fast, requesting an Uber using the Qantas app at one of these eligible airports you can earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points as you cruise on home.
Not only can Qantas Frequent Flyer members earn points when travelling to and from eligible airports in an Uber, first time users will be rewarded too. Members that link their Uber and Frequent Flyer accounts through the Qantas app will earn an additional 2,000 Qantas Points on their first Uber ride anywhere in the country.
To make things easy for you, we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide to grabbing an Uber at all of Australia’s eligible airports:
Sydney Airport pickup locations vary on your terminal of arrival and the type of rideshare you’re after. If you’ve arrived at T1 International Terminal, follow the signs from Car Park 7 to the Express pickup area for your uberX, uberXL or UberSELECT ride. For all other ride options, head to the limo pickup area. For T2 Domestic Terminal, follow the signs to the priority pickup zone for your uberX, uberXL or UberSELECT ride. For all other ride options, walk outside to the general passenger pickup area.
If you’ve touched down at the domestic terminal, look for the "Pre-Booked Express and Ride Booking" pickup area. For international arrivals, head towards the buses and coaches passenger pickup zone.
For Terminals 1-4, follow the signs to the designated Ride Share pickup bays.
Exit the terminal and follow the signs to the Ride Share pickup area, which is located across the forecourt and to the left of the multi-level car park.
Meet your driver in the pickup area outside the terminal.
Follow the signs to the “Ride-Booking” zone. Travellers coming from domestic arrivals should turn right after leaving the terminal, whereas those coming from international arrivals should turn left after leaving the terminal. Cairns Airport charges a $2.20 fee for all pickups and drop-offs and this fee will be automatically added to your fare.
Travellers should meet their driver at the “Uber Collection Point”. Townsville Airport charges a $3 fee for all pickups and this will be automatically added to your fare.
At Canberra Airport, your driver will pick you up from the Express pickup carpark. In the meantime, you can wait for their arrival at the Express pickup lounge.
At the domestic and international terminal, simply head outside to meet your driver in the commercial pickup zones.
Head to the Uber pickup bay outside.
Once out of the arrivals terminal, cross at the pedestrian crossing and turn right toward the far side of the car park area.
If you’re coming from Terminal 1, 2 or 3, follow the signs towards the “Uber Pickup Zone”, between the bus lane and the short-term car park. If you’re coming from Terminal 4, turn right toward the T4 car park and take the escalator or lift to the pickup bays on Level 2.
