The Westin Melbourne
In a plum position that overlooks Federation Square, The Westin Melbourne has all the hallmarks of a classic hotel – sweeping staircase, grand lobby, plush rooms, fine dining – all of this in carefully muted, if somewhat bland, tones. But distinguishing The Westin Melbourne from the rest of the pack are several factors: its Martini Bar, regular evening wine tastings and also its collection of contemporary art – even the swimming pool features modern sculpture. Highlights of the rooms themselves include the beds (which several guests, reportedly, have been known to snap up following a stay) and also the Juliet balconies.
