Standout yum cha is a good reason to take the 15-minute trip from the CBD to The Manor. It’s extremely popular from mid-morning to late supper, with yum cha from 10am to 2am. The daytime weekend yum cha menu is more extensive than during the week, augmented by about 30 per cent to a dazzling 67 choices. A tick-box list means dishes are prepared to order. Fresh is the word and the steamed dumplings are a revelation, particularly the prawn and coriander rolls. There are many unusual treats: Asian-style tripe is good, so, too, steamed egg custard and pine-nut buns, pan-fried sweetcorn cakes, and spicy eggplant with plum sauce. Most dishes are priced at about $4, so take a tribe, but do book.
Open: yum cha daily, lunch & supper. Licensed. Yum cha $4-$6 per dish.
