Skylofts at MGM Grand, Las Vegas

23 July 2008

3799 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

A cloistered, glamorous eyrie atop the MGM Grand, the Skylofts are lavish digs suited to the most demanding luxury hound. Rooms are actually more like private, New York-style, two-level condos, the smallest of which are one-bedroom and 130sq m. Service is unparalleled, from Maybach limousine transfers to full-time butlers and a personal concierge. Inside the luxe lofts, high-tech features abound: espresso maker, iPod docks and more LCD screens than you can count.

  • If you intend to gamble, do not pre-pay your accomm. On the day we left the MGM, we were told we had $1100 in comps available. Comps are good for (I think) 15 months, so with our Frequent Flyer points, and our comps, our next USA trip will be rather inexpensive. And if you want a fridge in the room, tell staff you are diabetic and require a fridge to store your meds. We stayed for 9 days and could not fault the room, the food, or the service. Magnificent.

    • I never would have thought of that, thanks so much Rob! My friend is heading to the US in a few weeks, will pass on the tip!
  • Couple more tips. MGM has check-in at the airport. It is on the right as you enter the baggage area. Don't take clothes. Taxi will take you to Factory Outlets near airport for a tenner. In the Adidas store particularly, if you purchase Adidas bag and fill it, you get another 20% off the already heavily discounted prices. I got runners for 30 bucks Aus. $150 here in Adelaide. You could spend all day at that complex of outlets. It is huge!!! http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=58
