Singapore: City of sales

Dec 04, 2008

Singapore has many charms, but chief among them is its incredible range of retail options.

The key to a successful shopping strike is to begin on Orchard Road, conducting a take-no-prisoners sweep through the glossy mega-malls of Ngee Ann City and Paragon. Here, luxury brands such Gucci, Fendi, Burberry and Prada hold court with offerings fresh from the runways of Milan and Paris. Then it pays to strike out into the ’burbs, along the quieter streets of Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar, where the shopping is a little less generic, the prices more wallet-friendly and the vibe, especially along the East Coast, endearingly atmospheric.
