Sharing pole position with New York, Singapore has been recently awarded with the "world’s most popular food destination" tag by Lonely Planet. From the Singapore Tourism desk, here are some suggested meals from their selected restaurants; from cheap and easy eats to five-star fare.

Crispy Baby Squid at Jumbo Seafood
East Coast Food Centre.
For a typical Singaporean style dine, Jumbo Seafood is the place to go. Their suggested crispy baby squid dish comes marinated in oyster sauce, sprinkled with sesame seeds and served over crispy noodles.

Prawn Fritter at Five Spice Prawn Fritter
Teck Kee Wanton Mee Coffeeshop, 56A Zion Road.
Prepare to wait for their plump king prawns and bean sprout fritters paired with omelette, five spice ngoh hiang, Chinese sausage and cucumber wedges.

Fish Head Curry at Muthu’s Curry
#01-01 138 Race Course Road.
A signature dish of Singapore’s Little India, Mathu’s is where you’ll find this sour and pineapple infused gravy curry.

Peking Duck at Jing
#01-02 One Fullerton, 1 Fullerton Road.
This place has a cellar containing more than 400 premium wines. The crispy skin Peking duck comes with seared foi gras.

Roasted Rack of Lamb at The White Rabbit
39C Harding Road.
This restaurant infuses old world recipes with a new world twist. Their rack of lamb is accompanied with imam bayildi, baby eggplant stew and saffron jus.

Crme Brulee at Le Bouchons
7 Ann Siang Road.
Le Bouchons is located in the city’s eclectic arts hub and its here where you’ll find one of the biggest portions of crme brulee in Singapore. Sweet!

Home made Sicilian Cannoli with Cassata ice cream at The Lighthouse
8th Floor, The Fullerton Hotel, 1 Fullerton Square.
Located in the luxurious Fullerton Hotel, be sure to try the warm chocolate ricotta rolled in a crisp cone, coupled with a spoonful of Cassata ice cream, topped with a sliver of candied orange peel.

Buffet at Melt, Mandarin Oriental
Level 4, Mandarin Oriental, 5 Raffles Avenue.
Not to be missed, this buffet is headed by 30 chefs and serves speciality dishes from cuisines around the world.
