The Shark Fin group used to provide everyone’s favourite yum cha at its two city locations in Little Bourke Street. But the centre of the action has moved: Keysborough Shark Fin Inn is the largest in the group and the only one to provide car parking (just as well, there’s no tramline here). The decor, with chandeliers and marbled pillars, is rather grander than the food. Yum cha is hearty good fun, especially at weekends when there are lots of families, lots of food. This is not for fussy eaters, those avoiding carbs or anyone wanting a quiet Sunday. Go for dumplings as they come round (the har gau are especially good) and fried spring rolls and calamari, as well as chicken feet and a range of dishes that seem to have no English names.
Open: lunch/yum cha & dinner daily. Yum cha $4-$8 per dish.
