Punting on the Cam, Cambridge

Gliding along the Cam brings another perspective to the extraordinary architecture of this city. Trinity College’s Wren Library looms as you pass a bend in the river and King’s College Chapel seems more rural in its setting when viewed across a field of grazing cattle. Punting involves steering a stable, flat-bottomed boat with a pole, and can be as vigorous or relaxing as you like. Steer your own or hire a chauffeured one with cushions, blankets and chilled Champagne. Several hire companies operate from the wharves and have touts offering special deals. Prices vary according to demand and group numbers.
