Palazzo Stern Hotel, Venice

30 September 2008

Dorsoduro 2792b, Calle del Traghetto, Venice, Italty.

Regarded as a work of early 20th-century architectural art, this neo-medieval and gothic hybrid, former home of Baronessa Stern, was lovingly restored and opened as a hotel in 2008. Its guests-only terrace is seconds by traghetto (50c) across the Grand Canal to Palazzo Grassi. Comfort is paramount in the well appointed rooms, which come with personal espresso machines. There’s a jacuzzi on the roof.
