With varying powers – from bringing luck to enhancing fertility – most amulets are chosen for the protection they afford. Some are claimed to be so powerful that they can change hands for millions of baht. Just a few centimetres long, the amulets are often images of the Buddha, Hindu gods, renowned priests or fragments of holy artefacts.
