The make-up artist and founder of Nars Cosmetics reveals his top in-flight travel beauty tips.
What’s in your inflight beauty bag?
Nars Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer, which hydrates, revitalises and fortifies the skin with a lightweight gel texture. And Diptyque’s L’Ombre dans l’Eau Eau de Parfum.
What’s an instant fix if you’re looking tired?
Everyone needs concealer. I like to apply it with the top of the ring finger (the weakest and therefore gentlest finger to use on the skin) then blend it with a concealer brush. Start with a minimal amount, especially on blemishes, and gradually build up coverage for the least noticeable effect.
What’s one piece of make-up advice every woman should know?
Go for a complete transformation. Be yourself but more. Opt for a strong lip and try sharp colours on the eyes. And if you don’t like it, take it off and try something else. Remember, make-up is not a commitment!
What is the most luxurious spa you’ve been to?
One of my favourite places is the spa at the Mandarin Oriental in New York. It’s the best for a deep tissue massage.
What’s the one product you can’t live without?
My iPod. I listen to all types of music: Brazilian, African and the old French singers.
When it comes to skin care, what do you tell women?
Skin care is as important as make-up; they go hand in hand. I don’t think you can have beautiful make-up without beautiful skin.
