Lešic Dimitri Palace, Korčula, Croatia
This five-star boutique retreat occupies a restored bishop’s palace and five cottages in the medieval town of Korčula on the Dalmatian coast. The retreat, which opened last month, features handmade furniture and rooms with fitted kitchens, plasma TV screens and iPod docks. The design of each residence pays tribute to KorČula’s favourite son, 13th-century merchant explorer Marco Polo. Most come with a balcony or terrace. Guests also have access to the palace’s private motor boat and sailing yachts.
