The lowdown on South Australia’s city of churches, from grand old buildings to fashion and food.

The thing about Adelaide is that to really make the most of the city you need someone to point you in the right direction. Many of its unorthodox and unexpected treasures are somewhat hard to find – hidden down a city alleyway or on a university campus. For a relatively small city, Adelaide sprawls over quite a large area, so a hire car is recommended.

  • Head down to Glenelg... A nice relaxed area, with plenty of bars and places to eat! The tram from King William St is the easiest way to get there!
  • Try Henley Beach north of Glenelg and Port Willunga for some even more fantastic experiences of the SA coastline - fab dining and shops, and drinking as well!
  • Also try the tin cat cafe for fabulous food (especially brunch)- its' a quirky cafe with fantastic local artwork all housed in a lovely old Victorian-style townhouse (on Rundle Road Kent Town)
  • Excellent small local farmers food markets around Adelaide. Every Sunday from 8 to 1pm Wayville farmers market at Adelaide Show grds. Buy direct from producer & have a fresh cheap breakfast or just a coffee from Tony & a pastry. Other markets in Barossa & Willunga very good. At Henley Beach great Croatian food & friendly service right on the beachfront. Or just have a coffee or vino & chill with the gulls !
