5-7 Rue Thérèse (1er), Paris, France.
Serious shoppers take note: this refined Right Bank gem is located in prime Parisian spending territory, nestled between the Opéra, Rue Saint-Honoré and the Palais Royal gardens. Its position alone makes the affordable room rates something of a bargain, and habitués include canny antique and art dealers, publishers and fashionistas. There is a pleasant sense of shabby-chic about the Thérèse, with its generous sofas in the ground-floor sitting room and practical, simply styled rooms in soft browns and aniseed greens – but nothing shabby about the small but gleaming bathrooms. Smart yet relaxingly informal, it treats its guests like… well, guests rather than clients. While the hotel is too small to provide room service, you can always order up food from La Mousson, a good Cambodian restaurant next door.
