Hotel Odeon Saint-Germain, Paris
In its 16th-century building with original stonework and open beams, this Left Bank hotel near the awe-inspiring Saint-Sulpice church has been redecorated by Jacques Garcia, better known for the plush interiors of the Hôtel Costes in Rue Saint-Honoré. Now you can have all the quirky charm of the Rive Gauche and sleep at night thanks to double glazing. The 27 small rooms feature padded bedheads, deep-purple carpet, raw silk curtains and ensuites with black granite, glass tiles and Pascal Morabito toiletries. Downstairs is a cosy lounge and a tree-shaded interior courtyard. Some of Paris’ best cafes, bistros and brasseries – Les Deux Magots, Brasserie Lipp, Café de Flore and Yves Camdeborde’s Le Comptoir – are but a walk away.
