10 Rue Keppler (16e), Paris, France.
Opened in 2007 in a little side street just off the Champs-Élysées, this hôtel de famille is an oasis of calm and charm in the middle of Paris’ famous Golden Triangle. Its good taste and good looks are a credit to the talents of illustrious designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, who also designed the sumptuous interiors of the fabled Four Seasons Hotel George V. Here, the combination of neoclassical and French haute-bourgeois makes you feel as if you are staying in a smart Parisian
pied-à-terre rather than a hotel. Rooms are mostly decked out in black and white, punched up with vivid hues of bright red or sun yellow, with thick damask curtains, curved leather headboards, leather dressers and checked bedcovers. There is a cosy bar, elegant winter garden and a splendid tearoom and lounge room, complete with open fireplace. For those who can afford it, a suite on the top floor with a terrace and views over the rooftops of Paris is the place to be.
