Caroline Baum
4800 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, USA.
Built for heiress Aline Barnsdall in 1921 and named after Barnsdall’s favourite flower, which the architect featured in a decorative frieze, Wright’s first residential commission on the west coast was designed in a bold style he referred to as “California romanza”. With great city panoramas and an adjoining art gallery, the house is one of LA’s hidden gems.
