Harry’s Lane, off Lindsay Road, Buderim, Queensland, Australia.

This colonial timber home was built 120 years ago by Harry Board, who was, believe it or not, a carpenter. Its new life as a fine restaurant began in 1990 after being moved a short distance to its present location by Buderim Forest Park. Last year, a formidable team took over: Frank Flynn, that most congenial Scot, and chef Anthony Lauriston. Only a short drive from Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, the Harry’s rainforest setting of deep greens and spacious lawns creates an ambience far removed from sandcastles and surfers. To sit in peace in the shade of deep verandahs while perusing an inviting menu is food for the soul. During the day, a two-course menu is not only good value but clever marketing, while a romantic table in the cool of evening invites a leisurely meal right up to the macadamia mille feuille with caramelised banana.
Open: lunch Wed-Sun, dinner Wed-Sat. Licensed. Mains $29, two-course lunch $35.WebsiteSource:
