Alan Yau’s Chinese restaurant is a sensory overload of light, sound and taste. Try the dim sum platter – one of London’s best yum chas can be had here. I love the crispy duck salad with pomelo, the sesame prawn toast and then the baked cod, Sichuan-style. I’m fond of the jasmine tea-smoked chicken, with its lacquered skin and deep flavour, and I love the clay pot of pork belly with tofu and chilli – deep, rich and earthy. I also can’t go past the stir-fried lotus root, asparagus and lily bulb in black pepper. Wash it down with an aromatic riesling or a light pinot noir to complete an amazing dining experience.
