Fallingwater, Pennsylvania
Of all Wright’s houses, Fallingwater, situated in a bucolic patch of Pennsylvania, is the most recognisable. Dramatically cantilevered over a waterfall, the house is perhaps Wright’s best realisation of organic architecture: where house and environment almost become one. To visit, book in advance: the house of the 20th century receives about 136,000 pilgrims each year.
