You can’t miss the building – designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie, it’s shaped like a lotus flower in bloom that sits on top of a small pool of water. There are a selection of interactive activities for children and each Friday is family day, when up to two children under the age of 12 can go free with every adult ticket purchased.

This is not some shiny, Bob the Builder construction-site playground. Most of Diggerland’s parks are set on old industrial sites and the attractions are real pieces of construction equipment that have either been set up for you to drive or transformed into imaginative rides.

This self-described “World’s Coolest Toy Store”, located around one hour north of Pittsburg, definitely has some worthy wow factors. The exterior is a “Space Portal” with a bit of an Imperial Star Destroyer vibe, custom-built by a number of different local businesses with many fascinating details. Oh, and the toys, yes they do have lots of those, with a slant towards the futuristic and the sciencey.
