Fancy living like royalty for an evening? Well, if you have a spare €30,000 (about $A46,000) to spend, you can treat yourself to a night at a new Princess Grace-inspired hotel suite in Monte Carlo.
This two-storey, two-bedroom suite at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo is open to guests from 1 February 2018 and while prices start at a cool €30,000 a night they will rise to €40,000 (about $61,000) a night in the European summer. Now, that’s a hot summer.
With uninterrupted views out to the Mediterranean, in the sun-drenched 910-square-metre Diamond Suite you’ll find a lift between the two floors, several lounging spaces, an office, dining room and huge bathrooms fitted out with a hammam and sauna.
Venture onto the expansive pool terrace and decide between spending your time taking a dip in the heated infinity pool or relaxing in the bubbling jacuzzi.
But, of course, there’s more: the Princess Grace personal touch. The opulent suite is decorated with some of the style icon’s belongings, including family photos and books from her private collection. (US movie star Grace Kelly became a princess in 1956 when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco.)
And fittingly, decadent materials have been used in the new fit-out, part of a four-year major refurbishment of the hotel, including a crystal chandelier, mother-of-pearl inlays and Carrara marble.
Guests giving up a serious chunk of change for a lavish evening in receive a personalised welcome gift, an in-suite concierge to help organise the open bar and in-suite dinners with Alain Ducasse. They also have access to a private treatment room at the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo spa in winter or a tent at the Monte-Carlo Beach Club in summer.
The hotel itself is adjacent to the glitzy Monte Carlo casino should you want to try you luck (and possibly raise enough money to extend your stay).
It’s not the only hotel room in the world dedicated to Princess Grace, with rooms and suites at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix in Geneva, LA’s Hotel Bel-Air and Dublin’s The Shelbourne already bearing her name.
