Originally bathing houses on the foreshore, Donovans has a favoured location from which to admire the beach, Port Phillip Bay and the cloudscapes. It has the decor of a cluttered, friendly holiday house. Try the parsley-stuffed squid with sage fritters to start. There are barbecued meats and dishes to share (roast duck, double porterhouse and a retro bombe alaska). The wine list is big and has a good section of half-bottles.
