Destination Guide - Manila
Much like the famed “Thrilla in Manila” (and no we aren’t talking about the YouTube prison dance video), this city is full of surprises – but ultimately rewarding for those willing to go for the long haul. Its sheer size is what baffles most visitors. Metropolitan Manila is one of the most populous urban areas in the world, comprising a patchwork of 16 cities. Those ready to explore aren’t confined to the outdoors – the amount of shopping malls is staggering.
Manila is hot throughout the year, with average highs remaining between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius. The wet season lasts eight months – June to December.
Getting there and around
The most efficient methods of public transportation in Manila for visitors are the Light Rail Transits (LRT, MRT, MRT2) and taxi cabs. For a more local feel, there are pedicabs, tricycles and jeepneys.
