Bok Choy Tang has much to recommend it. It is spacious and low-key elegant, with a lively combination of contemporary and traditional – a description that applies to the food as much as the setting. Yum cha is served in banquet form at three price levels. The difference is in the cost of the ingredients (grilled butterfly prawns and mongolian beef medallions in the more expensive), not in the quality. The spinach dumplings are outstanding, as are the steamed scallops with silk tofu. There’s an emphasis on healthy eating, so dishes are steamed rather than fried. Bonus points for the location: head back
to work or to concerts and a walk in the park at weekends. Only disadvantage: it can be difficult to find the first time.
Open: lunch & dinner daily, yum cha Fri-Sun lunch. Licensed. Yum cha banquet $38, $45 or $58 per person.
