The 110-year-old Le Dôme on Boulevard Montparnasse may well be one of Paris’ finest fish restaurants, but it is also one of Paris’ most expensive fish restaurants. Fortunately, the same owners also run a sweet little fish bistro just around the corner where you can eat very well for much, much less. The short menu is written daily on a large blackboard, then moved from table to table. The cooking is simple and straightforward – butterflied sole meunière, grilled sardines, steamed clams, skate vinaigrette, mussels served in a creamy, lightly curried sauce. Service is old-school and good. With its eye-catching grapevine chandelier, classic zinc bar and white tiles with piscine illustrations, this little bistro feels more like a real Parisian experience than most.
Around €35pp ($57) plus wine.
