Beijing House has a high ceiling with a clever roof design that lets in natural light, and a towering wall partition displaying Chinese vases and other vessels. The trolleys deliver good variety with a number of interesting dishes beyond the usual line-up. Deserving special attention are rice noodle rolls with barbecued pork, salty egg yolk buns, very light fried beancurd rolls with prawn, and salty calamari, but don’t miss out on the pork pies, which are delicate triangular pastries. Baked French buns with dry meat floss are novel, too. Special yum cha prices on weekends and $12 set-course lunches during the week.
Open: lunch & dinner daily. Licensed. Yum cha at lunch only, Mon-Fri $4-$8 per dish; Sat-Sun all $4 per dish.
