Europe’s largest multi-arts centre has had a makeover; while still labyrinthine – its 1980s concrete ziggurat design has confused patrons for years – a new entrance now signposts a funky minimalist interior. The Barbican Hall is the place to catch performances by the resident London Symphony and BBC Symphony Orchestras. A contemporary music program promotes work by newcomers and masters in jazz, world, roots, rock and all things unclassifiable.
