What are your must-see and must-do tips for Tamworth Country Music Festival fans?
Nominated for Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Video of the Year, Top Selling Album, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Vocal Collaboration of the Year.
You’ve got to go down Peel Street and catch all the buskers. It’s the centre of the festival and you can hear a mix of everything, from the really good (to the really bad). Make sure you catch the Busking Championships; it’s where some major talent has been discovered.
The Oxley Lookout has one of the best seats in the house. You can look out over the whole city and you’ve got a birds eye view of the thousands of people who hit the festival.
Nominated for Song of the Year, Toyota Heritage Song of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Vocal Collaboration of the Year.
Opening night at the Bicentennial Stage really sets the scene for the whole week. It’s a free concert that showcases what fans can expect from the festival.
Catherine Britt’s Hillbilly Sessions is a must-see. She always puts on a great show full of old country songs and surprise guests such as Kasey Chambers and Lee Kernaghan always stop by to jam on stage.
Make sure you catch a Kasey Chambers concert. I’ve been a big fan of hers since we were kids and used to busk together on Peel Street.
Winner of 21 Golden Guitars and 4 ARIA Awards and nominated for Vocal Collaboration of the Year.
You’ve got to get tickets to the Golden Guitar Awards. It’s like a musical adventure across a range of country styles all in one night.
Make sure you go along to Stuart French’s Pickers Night at The Pub. It’s a gathering of amazing players all coming together on one night to just have fun and freestyle.
Winner Album of the Year (2011) and nominated for Album of the Year.
The Flood are, in my opinion, the number one attraction. They’ve been underground for a while but they’ve got incredible songs so the secret’s out now.
The Telstra Road to Discovery competition unearths some of the country’s best new talent.
