Boardwalk Bistro on Hastings
Noosa institution Berardo’s on the Beach was replaced by Boardwalk Bistro in 2016 but it’s still one of the best places to take in the view of Laguna Bay. Locals tried to keep this Noosaville favourite to themselves but the secret’s out and bookings are a must. There’s nothing radical about the menu, just beautifully executed renditions of comfort food such as confit duck with goat’s cheese; steak and mash; and the signature rabbit and macadamia pie.

There’s no water view or flashy décor at this cosy little BYO bistro but it’s always packed – and for good reason. The candlelit courtyard overlooking the park is a breezy, relaxed setting that feels a world away from the Hastings Street bustle. Noosa Beach House
Celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita has created an enticing menu at Noosa Beach House that melds beautiful Sunshine Coast produce – especially seafood – with the flavours of his native Sri Lanka. Fragrant snapper curry is a case in point. The fact that you can enjoy it in a stylish coastal resort with soaring white interiors and pared-back timber furnishings? Even better.

Everything about this cutting-edge Japanese restaurant foretells the impeccable attention to detail on the plate, long before the first bite. This moodily lit, handsome Italian joint woos not with a view but with handmade pasta, great pizza and bountiful antipasto boards. Secondi are clever retakes of classics that showcase beautiful local produce such as slow-roasted Gympie pork belly. By all means, drop in just for an aperitivo; but if you want to take the affair to the next level, you’ll have to make a date in advance.
