There is no doubt the QT is one of the coolest places to stay in Port Douglas. Here’s why.

The abundance of activities

Stop by at Moonlight Cinema (running from June to October), held on the QT’s lawns, or swim in the striking lagoon pool with shallow sections for children and spots near the poolside bar for adults. Alternatively, pick up a retro bike (concierge will happily help with this) and ride down to Four Mile Beach. The QT is only three kilometres from the town centre, where you’ll find Deep Yoga Studio with classes for everyone from beginners to advanced.

If shopping is more your style, stroll down Macrossan Street (don’t miss With Sugar for a curated selection of homewares). Just out of Port Douglas are Mossman Gorge and the Daintree National Park, perfect for those who like a bit of adventure. And just offshore is the renowned Great Barrier Reef. If you do explore the reef, set aside a day to make the most of the experience.

The minibar stocks more than just food

Beyond the usual Hershey Bars and cans of soft drink, QT’s quirky minibar stocks pool essentials from beach balls and sunscreen to underwater cameras. Dominoes, pick-up sticks or a deck of cards are available for purchase, too.

Relax in playful surrounds

SpaQ offers a wide array of treatments, including the impressive Coffee & Sea Kelp Contour Wrap. For men the Supernatural Men’s Facial is hard to go past. Prefer to customise your treatment? Add an “accessory” such as the China Rose Mask & Hair Treatment or the Tension Target Massage to make the experience even more memorable.

They serve breakfast you’ll want to eat

The Bazaar is open for breakfast between 6.30am and 10.30am and serves just about everything, with a focus on local produce and quality. There’s a range of healthy options – including fresh fruit, nuts, muesli, coconut rice, quinoa, smoothies and freshly squeezed juice shots – as well as breakfast classics, from bacon and eggs to pancakes and waffles. Craving something you can’t see? One of the chefs will sort you out.

You can take your holiday home with you

QT thinks you should take a little bit of your holiday home with you, which is why you can buy almost everything in your hotel room. The bold screen-printed cockatoo bedside lamp, the paint-splat cushion and even the pineapple corer are all available for purchase.
