A curtain of cascading, fairy-lit greenery at the entry of this revamped Paddington restaurant and bar announces the easy, breezy tropical vibe that perfectly encapsulates the sub-tropical Brisbane lifestyle.

Head left at the front door for the restaurant experience, and right for the café/bar.

The latter offers a host of seating options including stools overlooking the main drag, sprawling communal tables with potted herbs and cosy corners for two. Start the day with Fraser Coast spanner crab omelette with coriander and chilli, and a Bloody Mary.

The Hiramasa kingfish tacos are a treat either as a starter, or accompaniment to afternoon cocktails, – crunchy little shells encasing a zingy combination of citrus-marinated fish with shredded green papaya, coriander and finger lime.

They go perfectly with a pitcher of the Paddington Pimms (Tanqueray gin, berries, cucumber, mint and dry ginger ale), or combat the Queensland heat with a lemon myrtle frozen margarita. Heartier share plates include Sovereign Hills lamb belly with polenta, cherry tomatoes and rosemary flowers, or tagliatelle with Darling Downs wagyu brisket and Parmigiano-Reggiano.

With food available all day every day, it’s a darling spot for whatever your heart
