Momofuku Seiōbo is chef David Chang’s first restaurant outside of New York City and it has garnered worldwide fame for its innovative take on Japanese cuisine. The daily tasting menu is worth the splurge and showcases indigenous Australian ingredients. A seat at the gleaming open kitchen is the prime place to witness the restaurant’s culinary theatrics and the chefs’ flawless attention to detail. Fans of Momofuku’s signature pork buns can rest assured they are still available on the bar menu, which caters for walk-ins only. Reservations for the tasting menu can only be made online.
There’s plenty to do in the waterfront suburb of Pyrmont. Kids will get their kicks at the Powerhouse Museum, Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and The Playground at Darling Quarter. Dining at nearby Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay or King Street Wharf is made extra special with Saturday night fireworks.
