From beauty bars to tranquil spas. By Melissa Singer.
The humidity can be a nightmare for hair so leave the travel adaptors at home and head to this newcomer, which has a treatment list that reads like a drinks menu. You’ll achieve pin-straight tresses with the Sleek Sangria, while the Cosmopolitan is your ticket to a great updo. Sip on a drink at the bar while the stylists pamper you. Bliss.
If you treasure your nails, avoid the quickie beach manicures and head to this cheery spa, which has three locations, including opposite the W Hotel in Seminyak. It’s one of the few spas in Bali to offer SNS gel powder. Prices are similar to those at home but your hands will thank you.
On busy, industrial Sunset Road, Cocoon is model and entrepreneur Lindy Klim’s go-to for a revitalising medi-facial. The most popular – and Instagrammable – treatment is the Cleopatra-inspired 24- carat-gold facial, which includes microdermabrasion to smooth the skin and a mask that makes you feel like you have the Midas touch.
Somewhere between the cheap- and-cheerful “street” massages and the five-star spas is Therapy, located in central Canggu and Seminyak. The spa formulates its own products, some of which are sourced from local growers and are never tested on animals. Try The Healing Act massage or, for something more intense, The Panel Beat deep-tissue treatment.
